How to Write a Research Paper in APA Format Using Example

When you are writing a research paper in APA format you can ensure that your format adheres to the APA regulations by using an example. An example of an APA paper can serve as a great guide that you can follow point by point. With an example you can visualize where the paragraphs go and how you should format your scientific findings. You can visualize where the citations go and when you should intent a quotation. This can be much more helpful than a mere text sample telling you what to do.

For example: Your cover page should look like the following:

RUNNING HEAD: Title of Your Paper Goes Here Title of Your Paper 1

In the center of the page smack in the middle is your title

Followed by your name

Your academic institution

Maybe your class if your teacher requires it

And the date

Title of Your Paper 2

On the first page of your paper you will have the title centered

Introduction

Then you begin with the introduction. This paragraph should introduce the contents of your research paper. It should be double spaced and in Times New Roman font size 12 the same as the rest of your research paper.

Literature Review

For each section or sub-section you can include the title which is not intended followed by the start of the paragraph which is indented. If you are going to include a quote or a statistic it needs to be cited properly such as “this is a great quote which supports my argument” (Author last name comma first initial comma year of publication comma page number of the quote). But if you are going to use a long quote that is more than four lines it needs to be indented entirely without any quotation marks like the example below:

This is a long quote which supports my argument. This quote is very relevant and without the direct quote the meaning would not be as strong. Text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text Text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text Text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text Text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text (Author last name comma first initial comma year of publication comma page number of the quote).
